Let’s take a minute to congratulate Joshua Dobbs who recorded his first win with his new team. After being traded from the Cardinals to the Vikings, Dobbs hadn’t taken a single snap in practice before having to step in unexpectedly due to an injury suffered by Jaren hall. After a rocky start, Dobbs went on to score 3 total touchdowns and author a game winning drive to beat the Atlanta Falcons. His performance even earned him a new nickname from NASA. I know I’ll be rooting for his success moving forward.
How about that Monday night game am I right? It was certainly… a game. The Chargers put up points early thanks to a punt return touchdown from Derius Davis and a rushing score from Austin Ekeler. A notable highlight was that Keenan Allen surpassed 10,000 career receiving yards on a wild catch towards the end of the game. On the defensive side of the ball, the Chargers held the Jets in check for most of the night. The Chargers defense forced three fumbles and sacked Zach Wilson a whopping 8 times. The Jets were only able to score on their 2 field goal attempts and were held to a measly 3.5 yards per play. An overall putrid performance from the Jets has myself and many others wondering where this team would be if Aaron Rodgers were healthy.
Week 10 brings a tough week for some fantasy managers with some of the NFL’s top teams on their BYE week. The Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams will be out of action. If you are in need of a fill in for some of your top players, look no further. Here are my favorite waiver wire targets heading into week 10.
Waiver Wire Targets:
Tank Dell (Rostered in 55.7% of ESPN leagues)
Dell had a phenomenal game against the Buccaneers. Dell saw a whopping 11 targets which turned into 6 catches for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns. It’s not every week that C.J. Stroud will throw for 5 touchdowns but regardless it looks like he is going to look Dell’s way. Grab him if able.
Noah Brown (Rostered in 0.9% of ESPN leagues)
Speaking of Texans wide receivers, Noah Brown had himself a day as well. Brown caught all 6 of his targets for 153 yards and a touchdown. While is further down on the depth chart behind Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Brown could be in line for more work if anything were to happen to either of them. In the last three weeks, Brown has seen 5+ targets. Might be worth stashing him if you have a free roster spot
Demario Douglas (Rostered in 21.9% of ESPN leagues)
After making my list last week, the rookie wide receiver had a solid game in Sunday’s loss to the Commanders reeling in 5 catches for 55 yards. Douglas tied Hunter Henry and JuJu Smith-Schuster in targets with 7 while leading the team in yardage. With Kendrick Bourne out for the year, Douglas is primed to take over the team’s WR1 role. He has a favorable matchup this week against the Colts before heading into the BYE week.
Keaton Mitchell (Rostered in 1.1% of ESPN leagues)
Keaton Mitchell put the NFL on notice this past weekend with a stellar performance against the Seahawks. Mitchel rushed 9 times for 138 yards and a touchdown which was good for 21.4 fantasy points. The rookie out of ECU should be a priority addition this week as a member of a potent Ravens rushing attack.
Tyjae Spears (Rostered in 33.1% of ESPN leagues)
This guy has been making my list for a good chunk of the season. He is one of the top-tier handcuffs right now in the NFL. On top of that, he is being utilized quite often by the Titans. Against the Steelers, Spears was on the field for 59% of the Titans offensive snaps. That is 10% more than lead back Derrick Henry. Add and keep on your bench in the event of an injury to Henry.
Cade Otton (Rostered in 7.8% of ESPN leagues) Genius Pick of the Week
Otton exploded this week reeling in 6 catches on 9 targets for 70 yards and 2 touchdowns. Otton has been on the field for almost all of the Buccaneers offensive snaps this season. That sort of availability and chance at targets is tough to turn down. Last but not least, Otton has a favorable schedule the rest of the year. This guy could be a sneaky add down the stretch that could help you win your league.
Tayson Hill (Rostered in 39.7% of ESPN leagues)
Hill made the list last week after recording a 20+ fantasy point game. Well, he went out and did it again against the Bears. He is now on a 4 game streak of scoring more than 12+ fantasy points. This sort of production is unlikely to happen every week but the Saints seem to want to get him involved. The “do it all tight end” is worth a pickup for fantasy managers looking for a tight end.
Joshua Dobbs (Rostered in 16.3% of ESPN leagues)
What a game from Joshua Dobbs man. After being traded from the Cardinals to the Vikings before the trade deadline, Dobbs was expected to sit this week. However, an injury to Jaren Hall pressed him into action. His day was highlighted by 2 passing touchdowns as well as rushing for 66 yards and another touchdown (24.92 fantasy points) in an electric comeback victory. I like the idea of Dobbs in a potent vikings offense moving forward. Justin Jefferson is due to come back from IR soon and that only stands to help Dobbs. Adding him where I can this week.
Baker Mayfield (Rostered in 45.3% of ESPN leagues)
Baker is quietly having a strong year for fantasy football. After week 9, he ranks as QB16. He has two quality playmakers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. A favorable matchup against the Colts in week 10 puts him in the streaming category for QB needy fantasy managers.
Kyler Murray (Rostered in 35.6% of ESPN leagues)
With the trade of Dobbs to the Vikings, the door has been open for Kyler Murray to make his return after rehabbing from an ACL injury suffered in week 14 last year. From the way head coach JonathanGannon is talking, it sounds like Murray might start for the Cardinals this weekend. Murray has QB1 upside and is a must add. This might be the last week you are able to claim him off waivers. If he starts this week against the Falcons, proceed with caution as he may be rusty in his first start in a while.
